The simplest way to describe a stock photo is this; pick up a leaflet or view a website like eHow.com, and the pictures you'll see have probably come from a stock library of some kind. Even big corporations such as Microsoft and the Encyclopaedia Britannica use them. I submit photographs to a number of these kinds of agencies, using several different profile names.
